Nothing fills my heart more than listening to my students exhibit their ability to be musical by performing a challenging piece musically at a concert performance after months and months of dedication and attention to fine detail. Course Description

String Orchestra
Grades 6, 7, 8
Prerequisite:  New members must audition with the director and have prior experience playing an instrument used in a string orchestra (violin, viola, cello, bass).

The String Orchestra is a performance ensemble offered to students who play violin, viola, cello, or string bass. Students in the String Orchestra rehearse and perform a variety of techniques and repertoire composed for string orchestra. Music literacy, fluency on a musical instrument, and ensemble listening skills are the primary goals of this ensemble. Students will participate in small-group lessons once per cycle during the school day. 

A limited amount of out of school attendance commitments are an expectation of participating in a musical ensemble.  These can include performances and extended sectional/rehearsal experiences and are communicated to students well in advance.
