Electronic Devices/Cell Phone Guidelines

Students are expressly prohibited from videotaping, audio-taping, or photographing any student, staff member, or school environment as well as uploading or posting them without clear and expressed permission of school officials. Any student found to be in violation of this policy will be subject to disciplinary consequences and may be subject to legal action.

Cell Phones- Cell phone use is permitted during the following times and locations:

• In the cafeteria during lunches
• After dismissal at 2:53 p.m.

Between the hours of 8:05 a.m. – 2:53 p.m., cell phone use is restricted.

Students must have cell phones off and put away during class time, unless the teacher has expressly permitted cell phone use for an assignment. Students may only place calls in an administrator’s office or the Main Office. Students must place their cell phones in the cell phone collection area before leaving the classroom for any reason if they will be returning before the end of the period. For example: Using the restroom.

Failure to follow these rules will result in confiscation of the phone and/or disciplinary action. Administration will place confiscated electronic devices in a secure location. If a device is confiscated more than once, a parent/guardian may be required to retrieve the device.

Playing and listening to Music- playing and listening to music is permitted using headphones during the following times and at the following locations:

• In the cafeteria during lunches
• After dismissal at 2:53 pm

The middle school is not liable for damaged or stolen electronic devices.
