The terrific trio of Mrs. Hrynko, Ms. Plaxe and Ms. Turk shared their love of reading, writing and books with their 6th grade students in an awesome collaborative teaching lesson. First, Mrs. Hrynko challenged students to read 40 books this school year. Next, in Miss Plaxe’s room, students wrote essays about the best book they’ve read so far. In Literacy class last week, they shared those essays with each other and cleverly “sold” books to their friends as they counted up and reminisced about all of the books they’ve read so far. After sharing, counting and celebrating the books students visited Ms. Turk in the library to check out some of the awesome books they heard about from their friends. Whenever a student needed a good book recommendation, Ms. Turk was right there with the perfect idea! The grand total of books students read so far this year is over 2,291 books! PASD is proud to highlight these teachers and the love of reading that they passed on to our students!
