Cold or Flu

The common cold and flu are caused by different viruses but can have similar symptoms making them difficult to tell apart. The flu is worse and symptoms are more intense.
 
Cold Symptoms: 
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Sore throat
  • Sneezing
  • Coughs that are hacky and productive
  • Mild headache and mild bodyaches
Flu Symptoms: Symptoms appear rapidly! 
  • Fever and chills
  • Headache
  • Moderate-Severe bodyaches
  • Cough; dry and un-productive
The Flu is contagious 1 day before symptoms appear and 4-5 days after the illness.
 
Ways to Prevent the Flu:
  1. Get the flu shot.  (It is not too late.)
  2. Wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water.
  3. Keep your hands away from your face.
  4. Get plenty of rest.
  5. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
  6. Exercise regularly and eat healthy.
  7. Wipe down common surfaces.
  8. Avoid areas with large indoor crowds.
