Chinese New Year -- “Year of the Dog"

Class photoMrs. Jeanne Stout, mother of Connel Stout, introduced us to the “Year of the Dog”.  When it’s your year, it’s bad luck!  We learned about and watched the Vietnamese Dragon Dance, traditionally performed at New Year.  As well, we enjoyed Mandarin oranges!  At the close, we were given a brightly decorated red envelope that represents the gifts adults bestow on children.  In Vietnam, they would contain money; these contained golden-wrapped chocolate half-dollar coins, a wonderful treat to end the day!
