Communications Platforms

School Messenger/Skylert

This is the preferred one-way messaging system for district-wide announcements. School Messenger/Skylert pulls contact information from Skyward, our student information system, and can distribute messages via phone calls, emails, and texts. Please note that you must “opt in” to receive the text alerts. You should have received a text message with instructions to do so when a new mobile number was added to the Skyward profile. However, you can still opt in even if you missed that message. Simply send a text message to 67587 with the message “y” or “yes.” You may update this information at any time in Skyward. Log in to your Skyward account. On the left-hand side, select “Skylert.” You will see your phone and email contact information at the top. About halfway down, there is a box for text messages. Here you can enter your mobile number and check which text alerts you would like to receive.

These messages are also automatically translated to over 16 languages. The language in which you will receive messages is determined by the preferred language selected in Skyward.

What types of messages are distributed through School Messenger/Skylert

  • School closings, delays, and early dismissals (weather related and otherwise)
  • General district announcements
  • Urgent/crisis communication
  • Phantom News
  • Messages from Supt. McTiernan

Email/IDs that send from these messages

On occasion, building principals may also use this system. Those messages will come from the principal’s email.

***Please note that if you opt out of one type of these messages, you opt out of ALL district communications.

Remind

Remind is a text messaging/email app used primarily at the building level. Remind allows two-way text communication with translation so it is suitable for communication between teachers and families both as a classroom broadcast or a one-on-one text conversation. Rosters are uploaded at the beginning of each school year. There is a mobile app that can be used. This is especially helpful when your child has multiple class memberships because it is easy to see all groups in one place. You do NOT NEED the app to use Remind, however. Once a teacher contacts you through Remind, you can use your phone’s text message app to continue communication. You can also add that phone number to your contacts as your child’s teacher.

If you are not receiving messages through Remind or are receiving messages from incorrect classrooms, please contact your building principal.

What types of messages are distributed through Remind

  • Building newsletters
  • Building specific announcements
  • One to one teacher/parent conversations

S’More

S’More is the newsletter creation tool used by the district. Newsletters created in S’More are distributed using either Remind or School Messenger. These messages will be sent either via a link or embedded in the email. Translations are available by clicking the “translate” button at the top of the message and choosing your preferred language.

Peach Jar

We are happy to partner with many community organizations throughout Phoenixville. Peach Jar allows those organizations to upload relevant information via PDF to be distributed to our student population. We require that all uploads be distributed in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. We do not allow for-profit advertisements or events that do not directly support our student body or district mission. These emails come from Phoenixville Area School District ([email protected]).

Board Docs

This program is used for the PASD Board of School Directors to share public agendas for meetings. Prior to public meetings, agendas and relevant public documents are posted to this portal. Minutes from previous meetings are also posted.
